Therapeutic massage: At Well Kneaded Massage we do not like to put a label on what type of massage you are receiving, but instead use the umbrella term “therapeutic massage” to describe our basic massage. Because each therapist has different educational back rounds and techniques, they will discuss your issues at your appointment and use any modalities within their scope of practice during your massage they feel would be beneficial to your specific needs. If you are a familiar with a certain modality and are looking for that specifically, however, please make note of that while scheduling your appointment.

Prenatal massage: Prenatal massage is done AFTER the first trimester of pregnancy. You are required to bring a doctors note to your session. We perform prenatal massage in side-lying position as recommended by the American Pregnancy Association. Lying face down on a table with a hole for your belly is not recommended because gravity is pulling the contents of your abdomen toward the ground and stretching out your ligaments. Laying flat on your back is also not recommended because it can put pressure on blood vessels and reduce circulation to your placenta. Certain techniques are not recommend during and prenatal massage such as deep feet and ankle work, and certain aromatherapies and hot stone therapies.

Hot Stone Massage: Your therapist will perform massage techniques using warmed stones as an extension of their hands. This heats up the muscle tissue and allows for deeper relaxation without the need for deeper pressure. This massage is perfect for someone who needs deeper work but cannot handle the discomfort of traditional deep tissue massage. It is also just extremely relaxing! If you have high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, neuropathy, or on blood thinners you should avoid hot stone/warm bamboo massage.

Cupping Therapy/Vacuum Therapy: During cupping massage your therapist will use plastic, glass, and/or silicone vacuum cups in combination with massage techniques to create a suction and space in the tissue. This creates a negative pressure that can loosen muscles, sedate the nervous system, break up scar tissues, realign fascia, increase blood flow to the area to help heal the tissue and promote cell repair. Cupping pulls toxins and blood to the surface of the skin, thus you may be left with discolored circular marks for up to a week or so after your session. If you do not wish for discoloration to be left, please make your therapist aware as there are cupping techniques that are less likely to leave marks but can still provide wonderful benefits. If you have heart conditions, kidney issues, bleeding disorders, or are on blood thinners you should avoid cupping massage.

Ayurvedic Shirodhara Massage: During this 60 minute specialized session you will receive 30 minutes of back and neck massage, 15 minutes of foot reflexology, and 15 minutes face and scalp massage. During the scalp and face massage, warm, pure Ayurvedic oils will drip slowly onto the forehead and be pulled into the hair. Pure Ayurvedic oils are a mix of several oils and herbs that help counteract the effects of stress, promote healthy sleep, and reduce anxiety. The warm oils will be left in your hair and you will be provided with a disposable shower cap to cover your hair. The oils may be left in for as many hours as you choose and are very beneficial to the hair and scalp.  Available with Terri at our Peoria location.

Aromatherapy: Your therapist will provide you with their aromatherapy options for you to choose from. You can choose based on scent or results you wish to achieve from your session. Each therapist has their own way of utilizing essential oils during your session $10

Aromatherapy Scalp Massage: an essential oil of your choice is used while giving some extra attention to the scalp portion of the massage. This is great for helping relieve headaches and promote deeper relaxation. $10

Foot Scrub/Hand Scrub: Feeling a little rough? Let us scrub the stress away. This not only feels great, but leaves the feet or hands silky smooth. $10

Back Treatment: This treatment cleanses and exfoliates your back to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and retain moisture with a refreshing mud mask finished with a relaxing back massage and hot towel. This can be added on to any massage sessions booked only with Jules. $10

Paraffin Dip: This is a perfect addition to any massage. After your hands and feet are massage they will be placed into a paraffin bag and allowed to dry. This form of heat therapy helps increase blood flow, relax muscles, and decrease joint stiffness. Not to mention softer, more youthful skin. This can be added on to any session booked only with Jules. $15

KT Taping: $10 per area with Terri only.

Reflexology: Reflexology stimulates nerve functions that help your body increase energy levels and circulation and alleviate headaches and insomnia. This treatment can be added on to any session booked with Jules, Malia, Trisha, or Terri.  Please contact them for pricing.
